Adelaide Desalination Plant
The new Adelaide Desalination Plant posed several challenges to overcome coverage issues due to the underground caverns that contain the many pumps and the myriad of pipework and cables that go with a project of this type. The solution selected to provide total site wide coverage for multiple user groups was a Motorola Linked Capacity Plus trunked radio system.
This system connects multiple repeaters (each of which provides the equivalent of 2 operational repeater channels) via the internal IP network running throughout the plant to provide a multi-site repeater network.
This ensures that the operators who run and maintain the plant are in constant communications with the control room operators anywhere throughout the site.
This radio system also incorporates several alarm functions including a duress alarm, a man down alarm and a lone worker alarm to provide a much higher level of safety for the workers when doing their daily tasks.
