SA Country Fire Service

country fire service

The South Australian Country Fire Service recently tendered for the replacement of their VHF radio network that is used by staff and volunteers on the fire-ground.  Tetracom were successful in winning this tender with Icom portable radios and Tait mobile radios.

The CFS had been persevering with outdated equipment that wasn’t compatible with the current ACMA band plan.  Tetracom were asked to install in excess of 3000 VHF narrow band radios at various locations across the state.

In order to achieve this demanding requirement, we enlisted the support of our regional dealer network and succeeded in meeting the CFS’s roll-out goal of four months.  In addition to the requirement for a quick roll-out, the CFS required Tetracom to provide extended warranty on the equipment supplied (5 years) and, for the duration of manufacturer’s warranty, a comprehensive database that tracked radio serial numbers, CFS asset numbers, vehicle registration numbers, fault history of all equipment and installation movements and history.  This custom written database was provided to the CFS on a monthly basis for assistance in their asset management.

Tetracom have supplied a significant quantity of spare equipment that resides with our regional dealers and in our Adelaide Service Centre for the ongoing support of the CFS equipment.
