Santos has embarked on an upgrade program to many of their radio communication systems used throughout Australia. Tetracom have been working closely with Santos and their technical staff to provide the right advice, recommendations, products and solutions to meet Santos’ needs over the next decade and beyond.
In the remote areas of North East South Australia and into South East Queensland, Santos chose to use the all new Tait TB8100 high performance series repeaters to replace the 20 plus year old existing wide area radio network for operations throughout the Cooper Basin.
Tait repeaters have an excellent reputation for performance and reliability and the new Tait TB8100 repeaters series is no exception. Offering many enhanced features and proven reliability, the Tait TB8100 repeaters were an obvious choice.
Tait sinad voting modules and Omnitronics communications consoles were also supplied during the upgrade of the Cooper basin radio network as well as the recent installation of a 3 site Commtech BasePage 2000 pocket paging system for emergency services call outs and messaging.
Key requirements for Santos focused on the reliability and performance of the equipment being offered and an “off the shelf” approach to any solution being proposed for ease of supply and maintenance. Another major factor was the provision and availability of support mechanisms to maintain the equipment in the years to come.
With both Tait and Omnitronics equipment being manufactured either here in Australia or across the Tasman in New Zealand and Tetracoms’ own local technical staff and facilities, the choice for Santos was simple.
